Beautification Loan supports new building owner with renovations

Beautification Loan supports new building owner with renovations

Danielle Hansen purchased a commercial building in March 2024 and renovated it into seven spaces to lease to retail businesses and professional services providers.

She was looking for a space for her business when she saw the building was available. Residing in Porch Place alongside Hansen’s Excavating & Trucking Ltd. is the Taber Times, a massage therapist, and two hair salons.

Hansen originally reached out to Community Futures Chinook for her first business over 25 years ago. With a second business venture, she connected with Alvaro Mendes, the business analyst with Community Futures Chinook.

This loan was very easy to apply for. I was told about it by the town development office and they instructed me to meet with Alvaro and he was amazing to deal with,” says Hansen.

The Beautification Loan that the building owner received supported the cost of the new flooring. Hansen is pleased to offer a newly-renovated space to business owners in the area.

Hansen says the size of the rooms are perfect for those who don’t need a large space for their business, and having multiple businesses in one building helps each owner cross-promote each other.

It hadn’t had renovations since it was built, and the loan helped with a part of that cost. Alvaro was great to work with. The loan is a really good asset that Community Futures Chinook provides in conjunction with the Town of Taber,” says Hansen.

I feel it’s important for a business owner to have this support, because the start-up costs can be a lot and this support helps keep costs down while improving the business.”
