Duncan MacPherson opened Que-Bickle Eatery & Pub in Seven Persons, serving appetizers, handhelds, like the signature Bickle Smash Burger, and salads.
MacPherson always enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and home dinners. He dreamed of having a BBQ stand for 20 years, so in his retirement he opened Que-Bickle in May 2024.
“My goal is to have a small restaurant that serves consistent, delicious food and ice-cold beverages in a comfortable, clean atmosphere that people can get together with their families and friends,” says MacPherson.
From the start, the new business owner purchased the building and renovated the interior and exterior to meet all code requirements, including adding a walk-in cooler and dry storage container.
During the process he received the Regular Loan from Community Futures Chinook, along with business coaching from business analyst Alvaro Mendes.
The loan was used towards more essential equipment and services that allowed MacPherson to officially open his doors before summer.
“The process for applying for the loan was detailed, thorough, and concise. Alvaro and his team made it a pleasant experience with their help and guidance,” says the restaurant owner.
He adds that as a first-time retail business owner, Alvaro and his team has made him feel like he partnered with a great organization with their experience and knowledge of the different facets of the local business community.
“Alvaro and Community Futures are exceptionally professional. He gives good, solid advice, is polite and encourages business growth,” says MacPherson.
