Taber’s first Indian restaurant Indian Pan Flame opened in 2022. Deepak Badola and Vivek Kapil wanted to offer authentic Indian food and authentic recipes to the community of Taber, and Alvaro Mendes with Community Futures Chinook supported with the opening of the business.
Badola said it wouldn’t have opened without the support from Mendes; he was always available to meet to ensure the business plan was solid and everything would run smoothly, and he gave great insight into the business community since Badola lives in Brooks.
“We give him all our thanks, because he is the man who helped us open this location. He helped us totally launch the business and connected us with Grace for digital marketing support,” says Badola. “He’s turned into a good friend, too.”
Badola says it feels great to have support like this as a business owner. Grace Evans also works with Community Futures Chinook. She created a Google account for Indian Pan Flame and helped set the owners up with social media accounts. Badola is thankful he can reach out to Grace whenever he’s looking for reviews or updates regarding digital marketing.
“They’re both very nice and helpful. Anytime we need to set up a meeting, they’re always available. Because I live in Brooks, I am not always here, but our manager even reaches out for assistance when he needs it. It’s nice to have support like this in the community,” say Badola.
