Beautification Loan assists 25 year old business in updating its space to continue to serve the Taber community

Beautification Loan assists 25 year old business in updating its space to continue to serve the Taber community

Robert Daisley’s mother Bonnie Daisley opened Bonnie’s Vision Care 25 years ago in Taber, Alberta.

Robert spent most of his adult life at the family business, so it was an easy decision when the time came to take over the business.

We put a lot of heart and soul into serving the community, and we want to be the independent option for people,” he says. “My mom built this place because she really cared about the community and she wanted to make sure people received a high quality of care. I wanted to continue that same level of service.

Robert loves owning a vision care business in Taber, because the store has seen generations of families come through the door. People who were once children are now parents bringing in their children.

Growing up here, you get to know everybody on a personal level. To be able to see people year after year, there are a lot of full circle moments,” says Robert.

Robert’s accountant sat on the board of Community Futures Chinook and recommended he reach out to Alvaro Mendes, business analyst with Community Futures Chinook when Rob was looking to renovate Bonnie’s Vision Care.

Robert applied and received the Beautification Loan. The team painted cupboards, added a new reception desk, and installed new displays for eyeglass frames.

We were able to make it look a lot more welcoming and modern. We’ve given it a clean, new, and professional look since it opened over 20 years ago,” says Robert.

Robert says having support like this from Community Futures Chinook makes a big difference as a local business owner. He and his family look forward to continuing to serve the community in their updated space.

“We want people to know we're really grateful for the support we’ve received over the years. We never take the community’s support for granted.

Working with Community Futures, it gives us an opportunity to level up our business and look towards our future as a business,” says Robert.
